Seeking 3rd & 5th grade teachers
We are looking for a 3rd grade teacher and a 5th grade teacher to start on January 3, 2010. As an alumnus of NAU's educational leadership program, I know that the College of Education produces graduates who are well-prepared to teach.
Please pass on news of this opportunity to your graduates and alumni.
Dishchii'bikoh Elementary is a great place to start (or continue) one's teaching career. We offer small class sizes (about 15 students), a strong curriculum, generous instructional support from our math and reading coaches, and extensive in-class help from teaching assistants and special education and Title I teachers. Additional amenities include financial support for continuing education, affordable housing on or near campus, and daily commuter shuttles from Show Low/Lakeside/Pinetop area.
The attachment provides more information about teaching in Cibecue.
Please encourage interested candidates to e-mail me their resumes and unofficial transcripts. I am eager to answer any questions and would welcome calls from prospective candidates at the phone number listed below.

Common Feedback for L5 Multi-Dimensional Discussions
L5 Multi-Dimensional Discussion is a very important activity because it provides us opportunity to understand the elements of distributed learning designs (Content; Integrated Technologies, CMS tools; Constructivist instructional strategies; & Related evaluations); and to design effective distributed learning instructions.
Below is common suggestions/information for you to enhance you final units.
· Many classmates had excellent distributed learning instruction designs, particularly in “Interactive” dimensions. Consider to learn from them and feel free to incorporate them into your own final units.
· Remember! Our units should integrate “Interactive” dimensions rather than Expository or Active.
· When more Diigo postings are share by our classmates, they could be harder to follow. You can Visit ETC677 Group’s Diigo site to view a chronological format to obtain better ides of the Diigo Discussions (http://groups.diigo.com/group/etc677)
· It is highly suggested that you subscribe RSS feeds for ETC677 Diigo Group to help you to organize our classmates’ postings.

Flagstaff Campus May 2011 Commencement

Subject: Flagstaff Campus May 2011 Commencement
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The May 2011 commencement season has been presented with a number of challenges due to the renovation of the Walkup Skydome and the many other construction projects underway in May. After examining many different alternatives and conducting many stakeholder conversations, it was decided that the best option was to rent and construct a high-quality temporary facility. Structure: The commencement structure will be located in parking lot P62B. P62 will be reserved during commencement for VIP and handicap parking. Lot P62B will be closed on May 2 to accommodate construction. All other set-up work will begin on May 9. Ceremony Event Details: We will have a five commencement ceremonies as is shown below. Departments, schools and colleges will be able to conduct receptions. Ceremony scripts and timing will be nearly the same as always.
Ticketing Details: Another change unique to May is the need for guest tickets. Although the temporary structure is large—about the size of a football field in plan—it is not big enough to accommodate an unlimited number of guests. As such, each graduating student is limited to six ticketed guests. Tickets will be available from NAU Central Ticketing between 8 a.m. April 1 and 4 p.m. April 30, 2011. Graduating Flagstaff students will pick up tickets in person. Extended Campuses and Yuma students will order by phone, and tickets will be mailed. Unclaimed tickets will be available, two at a time, for those needing additional tickets between May 2 and May 12. Students will be encouraged to pick up or order only the number of tickets they will actually need. Graduation Application Due Date: Because tickets will be given to only those students listed in the commencement bulletin, it will be very important that the graduation application deadlines and bulletin production schedules are followed by all colleges and units. Please make an extra effort to get the word out to potential spring graduates about submitting their graduation paperwork no later than November 15, 2010. Students not listed in the commencement bulletin—even if they are eligible to graduate and attend commencement—will not be able to pick up guest tickets and their families will not be able to attend graduation. Ticket details and other information will be sent in a letter to each graduating student early in the spring semester. Information will also be posted at nau.edu/graduation. Please spread the word about the spring graduation application deadline. When the call comes out in early spring, please consider volunteering to staff or serve as a marshal at one or more ceremonies. We are confident that this plan will result in a set of commencement events that we can all be proud of. If we work together, we can ensure that each graduate will have a high-quality commencement event that they each deserve. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Common Feedback for Assignment 2 LMS/CMS
This is a very important assignment because it provides us opportunity to understand the features, tools, strengths, and weaknesses of each CMS/LMS. How comprehensive our understanding on them would have major impacts on our final project unit.
Below is some suggestions/information for you to improve your paper.
- Q: Can I select different CMS/LMS after I completed assignment 2?
- A: Yes, throughout the semester, you may gain better understanding on different systems. Be sure you have “comprehensive” understanding on the system you intend to use for your final project.
- Distributed learning (Unit) is not about CMS/LMS. Simply using them doesn’t mean we are designing distributed learning environments. It is about integrating “tools/technologies” and “instructional strategies/pedagogies.” What are distributed learning instructional strategies? Many our course activities are the examples of distributed learning strategies, such as lesson discussion moderations with guidelines/instructions, Jigsaw instruction for Treatise paper with guidelines/instructions, Peer Evaluation on Treatise paper and final project unit etc.
- Q: Do have to use CMS/LMS to deliver our final unit?
- A: Yes, we must select a CMS/LMS to design and develop our final unit.
- “Accessibility” is not about how easy or open to access course materials. Accessibility refers to web page information/content being obtainable and functional to people with disabilities. It is about providing access to information for those who would otherwise lose their opportunity to use the web. To learn more: http://www.d.umn.edu/itss/support/Training/Online/access/what/

· We will use for course announcements. If you do not follow course Twitter, it is harder for you to see the announcements.
· If you have smart phones, by following ETC647, you can get updated on the course with Twitter.
· Get real time help from the classmates: including the hashtag #ETC677 in your tweets. Our classmates may it and respond to your tweet. It is likely getting support faster than e-mail.

iGoogle
I encourage you to use iGoogle as your personal portal page to allow you to manage multiple web 2.0 tools on the same page. If you have other ETC courses using Web 2.0 tools, you can add them to your iGoogle as gadgets. Feel free to share gadgets with your teammates, classmates, and me. There are many useful iGoogle gadgets available to support our learning.
Personally, I visit my iGoogle when I start working on computer and leave it logging in so I can monitor my personal learning environments within fingertips.

Account for Course Shell on Vista Build Server
E-Learning Center has created a course shell on Vista Build Server (different from our course on Vista) for each of us.
This individual course shell is for us to prepare our Assignment 2 LMS/CMS Evaluations which require us to access any CMS/LMS and try them out to complete our evaluations. If you decide to select Vista to design and deliver your final unit, you can use the same course shell to develop your unit.
Here are the instructions to access your course shell on Vista Build
1. Visit: https://build.vista.nau.edu/webct/entryPageIns.dowebct
2. Use your NAU log in information to log on the server.
3. Your course shell would look like: ORG-COE-Tu-ETC-677-1107-10835 - YourLastName-FirstName
4. Click your course shell.
5. You have course designer privilege so your interface view is different from the interface normally see in our class as a student.
6. Use Build and Teach tabs to evaluate Vista
It is not required we must evaluate Vista as part of Assignment 1. You can review CMS/LMS to complete the assignment.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
