Unit Proposal Notes

Thanks for many of you shared your unit ideas with me!  Here are the notes to share with you to help you to improve your unit proposal, design, and development.

Q: What content is appropriate?

A: Our unit content could be anything that we would like to instruct and deliver online to adults as professional development.  Just remember that our content and instructions must be delivered online via any CMS/LMS.  If it is not a complete only unit, at least more than 3 quarters of contents and instructions/activities should occur online.

Q: Is it must be a professional development (PD) unit?

A:  Yes, it must be a PD for teachers, staff, administrators or PD for employee trainings or any adult learners. We will have a chance to design an online unit for students in ETC647.

Q: Can I change my selected CMS/LMS from the Assignment 2 LMS/CMS Evaluations in Lesson 1?

A: Yes, you may have better understanding in CMS/LMS now so you may change your mind in selecting different tools for your final unit.

Q: What are the most common mistakes that previous students made?

A: Focusing on the online content development only.  Remember effective technology integrations include four components: Content; Delivery Technology; Instructional Strategies; and Assessment. Content: Developing online content is not hard with LMS/CMS.  Deliver technology: what tools you intend to in LMS/CMS? Discussion board, Chat room, assignment submission, grade book, blog, group space etc. Instructional strategies: referred to online/distributed instructional strategies, such as online collaboration, online student publishing, online resource sharingetc. Assessment: Need to assess whether your learners learn the content via your unit; to asses whether your integrate delivery technology effective; to assess your integrate online instructional strategies effective.
